Terms of Service
Welcome to TripRank. By downloading, installing, or using the TripRank mobile application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
TripRank is open to anyone, regardless of whether you drive. You may use the App as a passenger, cyclist, observer, or simply to browse leaderboards and content. You must be at least 17 years old to create an account.
If you intend to record trips as the driver or rider of a motor vehicle, you additionally represent and warrant that:
- You hold a valid, current driver's license (or equivalent permit) for the class of vehicle you are operating, issued by the competent authority in the jurisdiction in which you are driving.
- Your license is not suspended, revoked, expired, or otherwise invalid.
- The vehicle you are operating is legally registered, insured, and roadworthy as required by local law.
You are solely responsible for verifying and maintaining your eligibility to drive. TripRank does not verify driving credentials and assumes no responsibility for users who operate vehicles unlawfully.
2. Acceptable Use & Safe Operation
TripRank is a driving and riding companion tool. You agree to use it responsibly and lawfully. Specifically, you must:
- Obey all traffic laws, speed limits, and local regulations at all times.
- Mount your device in a proper phone holder or vehicle cradle before driving. Do not hold your phone in your hand while operating a vehicle.
- Keep your eyes on the road. Do not look at, read, tap, type on, or otherwise interact with the App's screen while the vehicle is in motion. Set up your trip before you start moving.
- Use voice control, Apple Watch, Live Activities, or hands-free controls for any interaction needed while underway. If you must look at or operate the device, pull over safely and stop the vehicle first.
- Comply with all local laws regarding handheld device use, mounting position, and driver distraction — these laws vary by jurisdiction and take precedence over the App's features.
- Not use the App to encourage, plan, or record unlawful driving — including illegal street racing, reckless driving, stunt driving on public roads, or evasion of law enforcement.
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the App's operation.
You acknowledge that distracted driving is dangerous and illegal in most jurisdictions. Any violation of the safe-operation rules above is at your own risk and may also violate local law. TripRank disclaims all liability arising from such use as further set out in Section 7.
3. Account & Profile
Some features require an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate profile information and keep it up to date.
4. Trip Data, Recording & Leaderboards
You acknowledge and agree that the App records, collects, transmits, and stores trip telemetry from your device sensors — including GPS coordinates, speed, distance, time, heading, altitude, and motion data. Recording occurs while a trip is active and, if you grant background location permission, may continue while the App is not in the foreground.
Recorded data is uploaded to and stored on servers operated by TripRank or by third-party infrastructure providers acting on our behalf. This server-side storage is required for cross-device sync, leaderboards, trip replays, and account backup. By using the App with an account, you consent to this collection and storage.
When you submit a trip to public leaderboards, you grant TripRank a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and reproduce that trip and its derived statistics in connection with the service. You can delete trips at any time from your profile; deletion removes the trip from leaderboards and from our active storage.

TripRank reserves the right to remove submissions that violate these Terms, appear fraudulent, or were generated in an unlawful manner.
5. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
TripRank offers a free tier and paid Pro plans. Pro purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are governed by Apple's standard purchase and subscription terms. Recurring subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel at any time in your Apple ID settings.
5.1 "Lifetime" Plan — Definition
The Pro plan marketed as "Lifetime" is a one-time purchase that grants access to Pro features for the operational lifetime of the TripRank application — not the lifetime of the purchaser, and not a perpetual or forever guarantee.
"Operational lifetime" means the period during which TripRank is actively distributed, maintained, and operated by us. If, for any reason, the App is discontinued, withdrawn from the App Store, sunset, sold, or otherwise ceases to be operated — whether due to business decisions, technical infeasibility, legal requirements, or force majeure — the Lifetime plan terminates with the App and no further service, access, or refund is owed beyond what is required by Apple's App Store policy or applicable consumer law.
By purchasing the Lifetime plan you acknowledge and accept this definition. If you do not accept it, do not purchase the Lifetime plan.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
TripRank is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that telemetry, speed-camera data, leaderboards, or any other feature will be accurate, complete, or available at all times. The App is not a substitute for a certified speedometer, navigation system, or law-enforcement awareness.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TripRank and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App — including but not limited to traffic citations, accidents, vehicle damage, personal injury, or loss of data.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to TripRank at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we believe is harmful to other users or the service.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via the email address associated with your account. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which TripRank is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
